During her stay at St. Lawrence University, extracurricular activities had a tremendous role in Martha MacCallum’s development into a journalist. She also worked at the student-run radio, thus having practical experience and growing keener towards the media. Campus discussions and debates also formed part of her co-curricular activities; therefore, she sharpened her ability to think critically and communicate effectively. This exposure not only developed her skills in public speaking and media production but also gave her that confidence. The incidences have been those that had mostly prepared MacCallum for the speed of journalism, where little about life is without clear expression.
